I vividly remember being introduced to Marvel trading cards from a soccer team mate while hanging out in a parking lot. It was the early 90's and a pretty good high for the comic industry. I would go to the local sports card shop (they used to have dedicated stores that only sold sports cards back then) and buy packs and packs of the Marvel Universe series 3 cards. I remember liking this series in particular over the previous two series for overall visual appeal. Now I realize the categorization of the super heroes to villains, to team ups and battles is very comprehensive. The power levels on the back were more easily readable as an info graphic over the other series and as a whole the abstract painted backgrounds just resonated more with me at the time. I would trade with friends and eventually collected the whole 200 card set including the 5 holograms. I would spent so much time going through them reading the origin stories and power levels of all the characters.
I decided to make my own card using the Marvel 3 cards as a reference. I illustrated a dynamic character with the Stark tower in the background. The logo is replaced with my own and is strategically placed there so I can input any company's logo in which I am applying for. The power levels are replaced with industry related skill sets along with a short personal blurb. It was all built in illustrator and it was a blast creating and assembling them.
